The new pants?

Loved Christophe Decarnin Fall 07 collection for Balmain. The dresses were so cute and gorgeous, and the tanks were amazing, and I've never gone crazy over a tank top before!!!
But the pants....

They look very flattering, actually, but I'm not liking them that much. I'm sure they'll become a huge trend (some people are saying Balmain is the new Balenciaga) so we'll see.....

Oscars Best Dressed

Here are my picks:
Eva Green in Givenchy HC. Most daring thing worn by anyone that night, and I love it(although I am a bit biased as I worship Tisci...)!
Helen Mirren, in Christian Lacroix. She is among the best dressers among older women.
Nicole Kidman in this stunning red Balenciaga gown. A lot of people don't like it, and I'm not too fond of that thing around her neck, but she looks gorgeous and stunning!
Penelope was supposed to wear a Dior gown (VERY disappointed she didn't, because someone definately should have worn a Dior HC gown!!!) but she still looked amazing in this Atelier Versace. This was also the dress SJP wore in Sex and the City...
And of coarse, Rachel Weisz. Something about her is so classy and regal, she makes anything look good (I usually don't like Vera Wang, but I love this dress on her!).She knows what looks good on her.

Disappointments:
Reese Witherspoon. I LOVE the dress, but Reese totally doesn't do it justice! Her hair and pose and everything made her look like a cheerleader going to prom. THe dress is great, however....
Cameron Diaz. After the Valentino disaster she wore to the Golden Globes, you'd think she'd learn to pick another designer, but she chose this equally bad, paper-looking, stiff dress.

The Worst Trend on the History of the Earth!!!

Why would anyone want to look shaggy???

Not all of it is horribly done. This I don't mind as much:

Thing is, I'm hating this shaggy look right now, but by the time winter comes around I'll probably be on my knees thanking these people for it. Even if it is ugly, it's probably warm...

When the Supers Return

I always enjoy seeing the old supermodels on the runways. The age of the supermodel is dead, and the new girls aren't the same. Gisele walked for Dolce & Gabbana (rumor has it she had to gain 14 lbs to walk, but I doubt it) and Carmen walked for various shows...

The Very Painful Side to Runways....

Look at the Toes:

I live in heels, and my feet look nothing like that. I think this shows that models do deserve a lot of respect....

Someone's gone mad....

This is the most repulsive thing I've heard all week: Girl's Gone Wild fashion line.
Joe Francis, who founded Girls Gone Wild way back when, claims "There's a little 'girls gone wild' in every girl". Is he secretly a woman? How the hell does he know???

RIP Eliana

Eliana died yesterday, at age 18, from malnutrition. Her sister, Luisel, died in August, also from malnutrition.

RIP, and my condolences to her family.
And as much as people like to shift blame away from the fashion industry for eating disorders, something needs to be done before more and more girls fall down dead.

Classic Lanvin

I'm SO excited for the Lanvin show in paris after seeing their precollection...

I'm glad Alber isn't experimenting with futuristic stuff anymore and is going back to classic Lanvin. It's gorgeous, darkly romantic, perfect!

Lets play naked twister, linda evangelista!

House of Holland and their shirts always make me laugh!
As shown at the Fashion East show:
The Linda Evangelista one

"Flick yer beans for Agyness Deyn"

"Fancy a screw, behati prinsloo?"

"Grab my weiner, iekeliene"

"Wham bam thank you stam"

There are a few more, but I can't figure out what they say...
someone needs to tell HoH that they don't know how to rhyme, btw.

Noir... Nice!

I think the most pleasantly surprising collection I've seen so far is Noir. They're the environmentally friendly brand, I think, from London. Last season, they were kind of biker/rocker-esque, but this season they've decided to go more traditional, although the edge is still there.

The environmentalist in me is loving this as well! Only problem is I have no idea where they sell this...

Makeup and Plastic can do wonders, but not always...

Sometimes, all that plastic surgery and work isn't worth it. I think she looked better then...

I usually don't pay attention to celebrities, but I couldn't resist posting this! and yes, she's actually a brunette and brown eyed girl underneath.

Vionnet

We are well into the fall 2007 collections, but this collection (from spring 2007) definitely has not had enough attention.
Sophia Kokosalaki's revival of the house of Vionnet....

The dresses are so light, almost liquid. More of this "preview" available here...

Daria look alikes

Veronika Antsipava:
Marikka Juhler ("baby Daria):
Johanna Jonsson:

It seems the fashion world desperately misses Miss Werbowy...

Una Colección muy Mala...

Usually, I like Malo (especially, if it includes cashmere). Their spring collection wasn't great, but it was fun, and kind of trendy, so I accepted that, but for fall they introduce their hideous thing...

I'm all for fur, as long as it looks good (which doesn't happen often) but this is hideous...

Janice and Natalia

2 new voices/perspectives in the skinny-models debate:

Oscar Wilde once said that to love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance," she told the audience of health experts, designers and editors. "But I hope you would agree with me that no relationship comes that easy. Perhaps the trickiest and most complex relationship is the one between you and yourself, your body and your mind. Sometimes it's even possible to be crueler to yourself than you would be to your worst enemy.

First she didn't pay attention, then after she had her son (at 19) her after-pregnancy weight dropped to 117, lower than it was before pregnancy. Then it dropped to 106, her hair started falling out...
The next season, I got healthy again, but when I returned to work, my weight was questioned. Some fashion houses called my agency complaining that I was two centimeters over [in measurements]. I was extremely upset since I felt very healthy and good about myself. I defended myself, saying it was crazy to consider measurements like 33-27-34 to be normal and not to expect some change.
It makes me think that if I had been weak at the time, I could really have endangered myself," she continued. "At any age we can handle success, but at what age can we handle failure?

And a completely different side of the argument a la Janice Dickenson
I'm dying to find kids who are too thin. I've got 42 models in my agency and I'm trying to get them to lose weight. In fact, I wish they'd come down with some anorexia.I'm not kidding. I'm running into a bunch of fat-assed, lazy little bitches who don't know how to do the stairs or get their butts into the gym. Models are supposed to be thin. They're not supposed to eat. In fact, I'm not going to eat for the rest of the day because we had this conversation.

I love Janice's show (one of my guilty pleasures) but this is ridiculous. But props for being honest. There are probably many people out there who share the same thought, but are too pansy to admit it...
But thing is, Janice was 5'10'' and 132 lbs (according to the driver's license). That's much more than some girls out there today...
